8-Ball Doubles Meeting Highlights
These divisions are being created
for the fun and excitement of playing “scotch doubles”. Also, the winners of each division will be
competing for the opportunity to advance to the APA National Open 8-Ball Doubles
Championship.
National Rules:
§
Alternate shot.
§
One coach per
team per game will be allowed.
§
S/L Limit = 10.
§
If you hold a qualifying
tournament and a team enters with a s/l of 10, they will
be allowed to advance if their s/l increases to 11. If their s/l increases to 12, a replacement will
have to be made.
§
Players must have
at least 20 8-Ball scores when entering the national pre-registered event.
§
Players must be
on an active APA roster in the 8-Ball format.
§
Currently, APA of
Austin has one slot available for the 2007 APA Open 8-Ball Doubles Championship.
§
When: Mondays.
§
Where: Shenanigans
§
Max combined S/L: Limit = 10.
§
How many to a
roster: A roster can consist of 3 to 4
pairs.
§
How many matches
per evening: 3.
§
Substitutions
allowed: No player substitutions will be
allowed.
§
Coaching: One coach per team per game.
§
Cost: $6.00 per stick .
§
League
participation: Must be on a 8-Ball Open Division roster also.
§
Trophies: Currently, vote was in favor of Vegas
Qualifier trophies. End of session trophies is yet to be voted on.
§
How pair’s skill
level is determined: Two players with a
total combined skill level of 10 or less pair up. That pair would be given a new player id
#. Combined s/l will be divided by 2 and
rounded up. IE a combined s/l of 9 would be divided by 2, equaling 4.5…rounded
up to a s/l 5. Games must win chart from 8-Ball
scoresheets will be used to determine matches.

How teams advance
session to session to Vegas Qualifier:
Each session, there will be division play-offs. Teams winning their division advance to Vegas
Qualifier at the end of the league year.
At the Vegas Qualifier, each pair of players enters the tournament as
individual pairs, not the team roster.
IE, each pair is now competing for the 2 slots to the national event.
